Well it's already begun... lots of traffic, holiday cheer and windows updates! And with all of these things comes problems. First of all the traffic prevents me from getting to my appointments on time which really upsets me. Second, the holiday cheer means lots of parties to attend with food and wine to indulge myself. And Third, the Automatic Microsoft Windows updates that are coming through your systems right now are beginning to cause us a lot of heartache.
Over the course of two weeks I have seen systems that were working perfectly fine stop connecting to the Internet for no reason other than a new set of Windows updates that have been recently installed or a new version of an antivirus program installed.
You see Microsoft will be releasing their new operating system supposedly in January and they are feverishly pushing updates (which are predominately security updates) to your computer as fast as they can just in time for Christmas! The new operating system called VISTA will be a much more SECURE system for your computer. The problem is they are trying to update the WINDOWS XP systems with new software so they will be compatible with the VISTA software when it is released. However, with every major upgrade, I see these problems happening PRIOR to the release of the software simply because the WINDOWS XP machines don't have a clue what is being installed into them.
After trying to make some type of contact with MSN and Microsoft they have simply told me to do a SYSTEM RESTORE and then TURN OFF the Automatic Updates.
Happy Pre-Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Cheer!
Fun BEFORE the Holidays!
