Last week, while I was working out at 123 Fit in La Quinta, the owner asked me to look at his computer and see why the one monitor was not working. Just so you know I have wrestled with his computer before when the whole computer died and the entire computer had to be reload. It was a computer built by a geek somewhere in Denver. After plugging and unplugging the video cord several times I told him it was probably the converter he had on the end of the plug in order to make it work.
Another client a couple weeks ago had a similar problem only it was with the wireless mouse and keyboard. After crawling under the desk with a flashlight I was shocked at what I found. A video cord connected to each computer which in turn was connected with 2 other cords for the keyboard and mouse ALL WOVEN TOGETHER. This computer too was built by a geek.
So here's a new term to add to your tech vocabulary... we call them FRANKENSTEINS! They are computers which have been BUILT by someone and are not name brand computers. And just as the name infers they spell trouble with a capital T. Why? Because most of the computer boards they throw in them consist of a hodge-podge of cheap parts from all over. None of which have usually passed testing. That's why they are usually cheaper (or at least the guy who built it says so).
Do yourself a favor and politely say "NO THANKS!" when someone offers to build you a computer. You'll thank me later.
Frankenstein!
