I'm Ticked!

I generally don't get upset about too many things but recently I have been assisting alot of you with downloading problems that quite frankly tick me off. No I'm not ticked off at you... I'm ticked off at the companies and how they use their website to misrepresent what they are actually getting you to download. Here is an example. I was looking through some websites when I came across a solicitation for FREE Spider (solitare) games. It looked interesting and was also coming from a very well known PC magazine's website so I thought I would check it out. Here is what the website looks like:

If you look at the website, you will notice the button that says DOWNLOAD NOW at the top. Naturally, that is where you should click on to SUPPOSEDLY get your FREE Spider games. When I clicked on the DOWNLOAD NOW button, this is the next screen that appeared:

Notice anything interesting???? If you didn't spot the problem, then you are just like all of the rest of us. And that is exactly what this company is banking on. I call it reverse psychology. Look at the box directly in the center of the second screen. What does it say in BIG BOLD LETTERS??? RECOMMENDED DOWNLOAD. And then your eyes kind of jump right over the name SPYWARE DOCTOR and come to rest on DOWNLOAD NOW which is what you want to do and besides that... it's in RED. So what am I ticked off about? I'm ticked off because they, being the company SPYWARE DOCTOR, deliberately put up a website that teases you with a FREE Spider Game in hopes that you want that game so bad (because its FREE!) that you'll anxiously click on that RED DOWNLOAD NOW button in hopes of getting your FREE Spider game and all you really get is a BIG HEADACHE because now that program starts up when you turn on the computer and tells you to pay them money because your computer is infected with spyware and that is dangerous and blah, blah, blah.

Forgive me if my 2 years in law school have somewhat escaped me but I think we called that MISREPRESENTATION...

Please be more careful.
